Restricted Access Barrier System (RABS)
RABS - provides an enclosed environment that meets clean air requirements by utilizing rigid partitions and airflow to separate its interior from its surroundings.
Features:
Active RABS: built-in HEPA-filtered air supply system
Passive RABS: air supply by ceiling-mounted HEPA filters.
Open RABS: the barrier has vents that allow air movement from Class A to Class B area.
Closed RABS: air movement occurs within the system.
The main characteristics of active open RABS are:
A physical and aerodynamic barrier with unidirectional airflow with glove devices;
2. the conditions in the work area correspond to clean areas of type A (ISO class 5);
3. the conditions in the environment correspond to type B clean zones (ISO class 7);
4. decontamination is performed manually with a sporicidal agent (with operator access to the working area);
5. air return to the surrounding area;
6. RABS may be opened during operation (under certain conditions).
